We have over 171 members from all over the world. Most but not all of those who have become friends have visited, stayed or worked in the Bishop’s House at some time. All share in the same desire; to keep the house available on Iona for all who wish to enjoy and benefit from time spent there.
Our History
In 1992, the then Warden of Bishop’s House and two of her friends decided to set up The Friends of Bishop’s House to provide extra amenities for Bishop’s House and to provide a bursary fund for those recommended by their clergy as being in need of help to be able to come and stay at the house.
Committee members
The Friends’ organisation is run by a small committee of 6 people elected annually comprising Secretary, Treasurer, and 4 other representatives. The committee is chaired by the Bishop of Argyll and Isles. The current committee is:
- Helaine Ross – Secretary
- Toben Lewis – Treasurer
- Rev. Clephane Hume
- Rev. Joyce Watson
- Sr. Pamela Owens
